The summary had me excited for this one, but it definitely did not deliver what it promised.
None of the characters felt realistic or even remotely likeable. The female main character might actually be one of my least favorite characters I’ve read in a while and not in a fun “love to hate” way. She was just straight up insufferable. I swear 90% of her dialogue was either complaining or criticizing someone.
The pacing was also off. It felt like the book took forever building up to the twist. When it finally hit, it was rushed and incredibly underwhelming.
I am still confused about Amber constantly commenting on how attractive Sophie was. It felt excessive and unnecessary, especially when I’m pretty sure early on she walked it back and said she is not as hot as she previously thought. It was just a weird detail that stuck out and then was repeated again and again.
Overall, this one lands around a 3.5 ⭐ for me.
