This book wasn’t meant to be a twist right? We all knew what was happening from the first like twenty pages right? I am confused by all the people who said they were shocked by the twist.
This thriller is about a woman named Grace, who rents an Airbnb on a Wyoming ranch. The Airbnb is run by Calvin. The Airbnb is a bedroom rental within a house so she is living with Calvin. There is some romance between the two and that is where the story grows from there.
The execution of this one just fell flat to me. Calvin mildly intrigued me but I never wondered much about or cared for Grace’s backstory. The overall story was interesting enough and written with fast enough pacing that I didn’t want to put it down. I did skim through some redundancy (I could not care much less about Calvin and the Brussel sprouts).
Interestingly enough, I think this could have worked if executed as part of a series. If this was the 3rd installment of the “Grace” chronicles or something, the “twist” that wasn’t a twist could have landed so much better. The premise of Grace also is not bad. It is the idea of Grace and the twist all being in one book that is too much in a way.
Anyway, this one is a 3.5 star book. It would be a 3 but I was interested enough that I didn’t really put it down in the 24 hours I took to read it which makes me give it the extra .5 of a star.
