What the Wife Knew – Darby Kane

What the Wife Knew

This was a book that hit the ground running on page one. It went way past “just one more chapter” and quickly became “how did I finish this in a day?”

I went into this expecting a decent thriller, especially after being let down by social media recommendations lately but this completely pulled me in and did not let go. The pacing was relentless in the best possible way. Every chapter felt like it added another layer, another question, or another reason to keep reading.

I actually really liked the protagonist and didn’t hate any of the characters, though they were definitely written to be unlikeable. The plot was filled with twisty turns that highlighted family dynamics, secrets, revenge, and betrayal.

The shifting perspectives and timelines provided gradual reveals that kept the tension high. There was no major, obvious twists. It was just a steady building of moments that kept stacking on top of each other. The pacing alongside the plot made for a great payoff at the end. Everything felt intentional.

I’m landing on a 5 ⭐ read. My previous disappointing reads may be leading to me rounding up but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed you gave this one a shot!

Rating: 5 out of 5.
