Home is Where the Bodies Are – Jeneva Rose

Home Is Where The Bodies Are

This book was simply a mediocre, not very thrilling thriller.

If you read the acknowledgments you learn that Jeneva Rose sets this one in the small town she grew up in. This story follows three estranged siblings as they try to uncover the truth about a missing child from their childhood. All three of the main characters are pretty one dimensional and unlikable. I never really felt like I was rooting for or against any of them. They simply existed.

I am glad I was listening to this as an audiobook so I could cook dinner and fold laundry while the story progressed. It was interesting enough to be there while I did mindless tasks but I think if I had been reading in print I would have been unimpressed and bored enough that I would have to put it down for breaks.

The ending felt very predictable. I would say there was one tiny thing I hadn’t guessed but, quite frankly, I hadn’t even put the thought into that piece because I didn’t care enough.

Overall, I give a low 3 stars for this read. No real twists. No real emotional investment. No anticipation built. Simply a story.
