While the concept provided a fun break from the usual thriller I read, something about this book just fell flat. Hawkins was never able to get me all that invested in any of the characters. The book did pick up pace after a slow start and I was mildly curious what would happen next throughout. While it was tagged a “thriller”, this felt more like a family drama lacking a strong hook.
